If you have recently became disabled, you probably have heard about getting disability payments.  There are things that you can do to improve your chances of getting Social security disability payments.  The first is to hire an attorney that specializes in disability payments.  I have read that people have an increased chance of getting approved when they hire an attorney to help them with the application and following correspondence.  The second thing that can help your chances is to speak with your doctor.  Ask your doctor to write a detailed letter explaining why it is that you are disabled.  Additionally, have the supporting medical records available to possibly attach to the letter.
