One Thing On His Wish List: Vans Shoes

December 17th, 2009 . by admin

Thank goodness for wish lists, or I would never know what to get my grandsons for their birthdays. Every year around their birthdays, I call them and ask for a wish list, and every year they willingly oblige. This year when I got my oldest grandson’s list, I wasn’t sure what to make of it. All he wanted was a pair of vans shoes, and I didn’t know what that meant. A pair of shoes shaped like vans? So I asked my paperboy, who was all too willing to tell me what vans were, and the coolest pairs. On his recommendation I bought a pair my grandson loved, and gave the paperboy’s mom a birthday gift idea too.

I Found Some Burton Bindings Online

December 10th, 2009 . by admin

My bindings have been shot since last season, so I have been searching for a new pair ever since.  It is almost time to hit the slopes, so I was getting a little nervous that I wouldn’t be able to find some in time.  Then, just last night, I found some burton bindings online.  They should be getting here just in time for the snow to be falling.  It is getting me excited about the slopes.  This should be a good time and I am looking at a package deal to Colorado for Christmas break.  That will keep me nice and busy.

American Angler began as Fly Tyer

November 3rd, 2009 . by admin

American Angler began as Fly Tyer, an in-house publication of the Surette Fly Fishing Shop in North Conway, New Hampshire. The first issue was published in 1978. During the 1980s, following declining interest in fly fishing, Fly Tyer was sold and underwent several name changes. It became American Fly Tyer, then American Angler & Fly Tyer, and finally American Angler. In 1990, under more successful business management, the magazine increased to a bimonthly (six issues a year) printing schedule.”Why American Angler? [Then-owner] Mr. Stewart explained that he wanted a name that would stand out from the other fly-fishing periodicals. More important, the surveys he conducted told him that the magazine’s readers wanted practical information that they could use on their home waters. Stewart chose a title that reflected a commitment to the average American fly fisher.”

My Friend’s House And The Golf Course

October 19th, 2009 . by admin

I love to watch golf competitions. A good friend of mine lives in a beautiful house right behind a popular golf course. Every year, a big golfing competition takes place on this golf course and he usually invites me to stop by and see it. But this year he wanted to do something different. Instead of sitting there watching other people play golf, he wanted to play golf on this course as well and he invited me to go with him. Now I really suck at playing this sport because I lack the focus. But to please him, I decided to get a set of single golf clubs and go with him.

How custom socks make great gifts

September 9th, 2009 . by admin

When Christmas is getting near, I always look for original gift ideas so that people can remember all these good holiday moments we pass together. Finding something new every year isn’t easy and I certainly don’t want to be one of these people who give you a cheap gift card for some fast food restaurant or coffee shop you don’t like. So last year, I came up with the idea of offering my relatives and friends custom socks that featured their name on them. Well guess what? It was a pretty successful idea how they loved their socks and a few months later I am still hearing how they wear their customized socks.
