For one thing, they can tell with such a check if employees or job applicants are dependable enough to be allowed to handle risky tasks. For instance, those with a record of child abuse should not allowed to be employed in schools nor should they be allowed to work with children in any capacity. On the other hand, criminal records make it more difficult for good people with records acquired due to unfortunate circumstance to find good jobs.
