For the most part, you will get a higher quality picture with a rear projection HDTV Projection TV. While the unit may be a little bit more expensive, at least you will know that you are getting all of the quality that you expect from a projection TV. In some cases, you may find that it will be easier to upgrade a rear projection TV to accept different programming formats.  This is very important considering the way technologies are changing in this industry.  As may be expected you will need to do some research on this topic to make sure you are not buying a TV that will become obsolete in just a few years.
