The Spiegel Grove
December 18th, 2009 . by adminA wreck diving adventure that you don’t want to miss is the Spiegel Grove. This is a great site among Florida Keys SCUBA dive destinations. This ship was retired in 1989 by the United States Navy. It was sunk in June 2002 for the sole purpose of creating an artificial reef. It lay on its starboard side for three years before being moved into an upright position by Hurricane Dennis. Although its original purpose was to move craft and cargo for amphibious landings, it is much more popular as a wreck diving site. Definitely one adventure that you don’t want to miss out on.
