The pistol grips should not hinder the movements, like loading and releasing of magazine. Many people like to have checkered grips while some other prefers smooth grips only. However, while a checkered grip could prove to be abrasive for your hand, a smooth grip could be hard to handle. Therefore, it would be wise to go for a semi-smooth grip, which will serve two purposes; it would provide a good grip and at the same time would be comfortable for the hand.
